ABout ME
I was the best drawer of MIG 15 fighter jets in the first grade and have been at it ever since. Living in the Pacific Northwest implanted an appreciation of nature in general and the sky especially. Moving to the high desert mountains of central Mexico kicked up the color intensity of my work because of the mind-boggling light at 7,000 feet. A stunning revelation after living at sea-level in western Washington.
Generally, I want my drawings to be a believable spacial illusion; some occupied, some not. Other than the “cloudy”affect I try to avoid drawing “things;” going for very simple shapes and forms that evoke an attitude, a mood or sensibility with color.
I use soft pastels on 100% rag paper with some foil and graphite. The intensity of the soft pastels is much like the intensity of the light where I live in Mexico.
